Hair & Scalp Therapies
All the therapies will include an Ayurvedic consultation for Dosha and skin type assessment to help understand internal imbalances. This consultation includes diet and lifestyle changes. The therapies will be based on your body type and constitution and will be decided at the time of your consultation with the Ayurveda vaidya.
A certain amount of hair loss is considered normal, as old strands are replaced by new. When hair loss is excessive, however, it is a symptom of imbalance. In the west, this condition is called alopecia, and in Ayurveda, it called khalitya. According to Ayurveda, hair is a byproduct of bone formation and the tissue responsible for building bones is also responsible for the growth of hair; therefore the remedies are targeted at strengthening bone tissue. Early hair loss is related to body type and the balance of the mind-body constitution (doshas). People who have excess Pitta in their body are likely to lose their hair early in life, or have prematurely thin or gray hair. Excess Pitta in the sebaceous gland, at the root of the hair, or folliculitis can lead to hair loss.
Ayurvedic treatment of hair loss is aimed at pacification of Pitta through a customized diet and lifestyle regime, along with medication. A combination of diet, herbs, oil massage, meditation, breathing, and yoga can be beneficial in addressing the problem of hair loss and premature graying of hair.

Ayurvedic Head Massage
Ayurveda Head Massage of your scalp with medicated oil such as Bhringaraja oil or coconut oil can help prevent hair loss and restore healthy hair growth. Head and scalp massage helps to improve the blood circulation to the scalp and reduce stress, both of which support the outcome of improved hair growth.
Head massage is available as a treatment in the clinic, but it can also be taught to you to perform at home. An ayurvedic specialist can prescribe the right oil for you after they assess your body-mind constitution and your specific condition.
Shirodhara (shiro-dar-a), the term comes from the Sanskrit word shiras meaning "head" and dhara meaning "flow." It is a classical and a well-established ayurvedic procedure of slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil or other liquids on the forehead. Sometimes all one needs to encourage new hair growth is to fully hydrate the skin and make way for new to strands to flourish.
Note: This treatment includes an ayurvedic head and scalp massage to improve the blood circulation to the scalp and reduce stress, both of which support the outcome of improved hair growth.
Ayurveda therapies are effective when performed for 3-14 days depending on your health assessment performed by a qualified Ayurveda doctor during the consultation. The treatments are customized based on the individual health conditions.

Note: Please note stress management therapy works well for people stressed out due to work and a hectic lifestyle. If you are suffering from anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and other psychological issues, this Ayurveda stress management therapy may be helpful but not sufficient. Anxiety, depression and other psychological disorders are much more deeply seated in the mind. You may need the help of professionals in psychiatry, psychotherapy, Reiki and other healers specialized in the sub-conscious mind.
