    • Establishing a Pranayama practice,

    • Anatomy of mind,

  • Daily Private Yoga and Meditation practice,

Food 

We will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner and herbal teas, as well as tea and snacks in-between. In-house cooked vegetarian meals cooked per Ayurvedic principles. It is essential that you inform Shilpika of any dietary requirements, within reason, well in advance so that she can let us know of your needs. If, for medical reasons, you follow a highly restricted diet, we advise you to bring with you any essentials you might need for your well-being. If you are prone to a severe reaction to an allergen, for example, a very small amount on a kitchen knife or board, it is essential that we be informed. Please note that we are unable to offer absolute guarantees for such allergic conditions. Breakfast generally consists of hot cereals (cooked grains), dairy and non-dairy options, homemade yogurt, and fresh fruit. Lunch, the main meal of the day, typically includes white and brown rice, delicious legumes (dahl), vegetables (subzi), homemade yogurt, and a fresh salad bar. Dinner is the lightest meal of the day and generally consists of soup, fresh salad, a delicious side dish, and fresh fruit.

By Air Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is the nearest commercial airport, approximately a one-hour drive by car. Other nearby airports include:

Domestic flights to AVP typically have a layover at EWR, JFK, DTW, CTL, or PHL. Layovers at EWR and JFK are more commonly canceled due to delay or inclement weather than flights through other domestic airports.

 

The total air and ground trip may be faster and less expensive to the New York airports than to the Scranton airport, particularly if you are flying internationally

Vaccination Requirements We require guests and visitors at the Himalayan Institute to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You are fully vaccinated when:

  • A full 2 weeks have passed since your second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or

  • A full 2 weeks have passed after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

  • If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated. Please choose another time to visit the Himalayan Institute. Overnight guests are required to provide proof of vaccination prior to arrival.

  • The Himalayan Institute has had a chance to update our COVID-19 policies. With COVID-19 cases falling so low, and following the CDC guidelines, as of March 8, 2022, masks are now optional. Masks are still required at our Pure Rejuv Health Center.

Cell service is available at the Retreat however depending on provider, your service may be stronger in different spots on the properties. WiFi is available by the main office. High-speed internet is available for free.

Early Departures, No Shows, Dismissal

Ayurshilpi Ayurveda & Wellness, Shilpika Devaiah, the retreat leaders, cannot be held responsible for early departures, no shows, dismissal, or medical reasons. No refunds, reimbursements or discounts will be granted if, for any reason, client misses the retreat, fails to join the retreat, leaves the retreat, is dismissed from the retreat, or cannot fully participate in the retreat for any reason. Unforeseen Circumstances

Ayurshilpi Ayurveda & Wellness, Shilpika Devaiah, the presenters, cannot be held responsible for unforeseen circumstances that may inhibit the ability for the yoga retreat to occur, or for you, the participant, to participate in the retreat. Trips can be canceled or amended on the basis of any unforeseen circumstances.

Shilpika Devaiah

Shilpika Devaiah is the founder of Ayur-Shilpi Ayurveda & Wellness and is a certified Ayurveda Physician (Vaidya) through NAMA (National Ayurvedic Medical Association) & AAPNA (Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America) organization. She received her Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine, and Surgery which is a 5-year program from Rajiv Gandhi University Of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India, and Diploma in Panchakarma from Ayurdhama Ayurveda Hospital and Yoga Retreat Center in India. Shilpika also has a 200 hour Yoga Teachers Training Certification from the renowned Sivananda Yoga Ashram, India specializing in Hatha yoga. Shilpika is also certified as an Ayurveda Yoga Therapist by NAMA. She is also trained in Ashtanga-Vinyasa principles and has held multiple Yoga workshops in Rishikesh, India, Om Cafe, Sri Lanka, etc. to support prakruti.
